EACCL #8 RAF Marham
26 February 2020
We had 14 runners racing today which is excellent, conditions were blustery which meant there was an icy wind chill in the air. The course was an out and back on a dry mostly flat mixed terrain route with a hill at the start and at the end on the return. Congratulations to Jet who was first lady home in the ladies race and congratulations to Caroline and Anneke who made up our first 3 scoring A team ladies home. Congratulations also to David, Sean, Richard and Kevin who were our first 4 men home scoring for our Men’s A team. Well done to everyone who ran today, you all did our club proud and I once again thank you all.
EACCL #7 Chilton Fields, Stowmarket
19 February 2020
A fabulous XC at Stowmarket this afternoon with our highest turnout for this race...ever! The conditions were wet, blustery, cold and very muddy on a tough challenging course but none of that phased us. Our first 3 WAC Ladies Jet, Lucy & Alex occupied the first 5 finishing places in the Ladies Race and our Men also scored really well with Aidan Banfield making his EACCL mid week debut being first WAC home in the Men’s Race with David Houghton, Sean Thompson and Richard White making up our A team quartet. Well done and a massive thank you to everyone who ran this afternoon, you all did yourselves and our club proud.

Congratulations go to Jet who was first runner home with Alex Smith and Caroline Houghton making up a Ladies A team trio, in the men’s race David Houghton was first WAC home with Kris Barnard, Sean Thompson and Kevin Frazer making up our Men’s A team scoring quartet. 29 January 2020
Well done and thank you to everyone who raced at Blicking Park. We had another excellent turnout with 22 runners present. It was a dry tough undulating course with a cold blowing wind but other than that, conditions were ideal. Our A team men’s finishers were David Houghton, Sean Thompson, Richard White & Kevin Frazer and our ladies A team finishers were Jet, Sharon Hurren and Lisa Greengrass. A brilliant team effort this pm and great support for each other which is awesome.
Freethorpe 10 Mile
Sunday 26 January 2020
This was the first in the 2020 Sportlink Grand Prix Series and a Norfolk County Championship event. Another great turnout with more than 45 Wymondham runners taking part. This undulating and, sometimes windy, race nevertheless produced some great results for Wymondham with several age group prizes and many members gaining pbs. Congratulations to Jet Watkinson who was 4th lady overall, first in her age group in a time of 1.03.32 which was not only a pb but also a new Club Record. Congratulations also to Alex Smith who finished in the top 10 ladies and was second in her age group. Sharon Hurren also had a fantastic race to finish first in her age group. Cindy Burgess, Sean Thompson, Kevin Frazer and Andrew Lane all gained third place in their age groups. All place winners also won the equivalent medal in the County Championships. Cindy Burgess
Snetterton 5k and 10K
19 January 2020
Perfect conditions at the Snetterton race circuit for the 5km and 10km races. There were 14 Wymondham runners for the 10k and 5 Wymondham runners in the 5k - this included Beverley Read and Andrew Harrison-Stokes who ran both races! Wymondham had a 1, 2 in the 5k over 60 men's age group with Nigel Lambert first and Stephen Dady second. Well done all. Cindy Burgess

Norfolk XC County Championships
Sunday 5 January 2020
Congratulations to everyone who ran for our us at the Norfolk County XC Championships, an awesome WAC turnout, we had over 30 runners present and you all did our club proud. It was certainly a challenging tough course, with the ladies for the first time this year running the same 10k distance as the men. David Houghton was first WAC home, Jet Watkinson was first WAC lady home finishing 6th lady overall and in doing so qualified to run for Norfolk in the National XC Champs at Loughborough in March. In the U17 race Aidan Banfield finished in a very credible 6th position in what was an extremely competitive field of runners. County age group medal winners were Juliette Watkinson silver, Alex Smith gold, Stephen Dady Silver, Eva Osborne Gold, Cindy Burgess, silver. Juliette Watkinson, Alex Smith and Lisa Greengrass won the gold in the Women's Team 35-44; Kevin Frazer, Richard White and Mark Tufts won bronze in the Men's 50+ and Caroline Houghton, Anneke Cooke and Tracey Renshaw won gold in the Women's 45+. Beccles Turkey Trot
Sunday 8 December 2019
The weather was a bit blustery for this 10 mile race, described as "undulating" but which I would call positively hilly! Nonetheless 13 people from WAC completed the race with Kyle Brooks coming in first for Wymondham and sixth overall in a fantastic time of 59:59 a pb for him and his first time under the one hour mark! Stephen Dady ran really well, as always, winning his age group. Mark Banfield and Kevin Frazer came both came 3rd in their respective age groups and I managed to get 2nd in mine. Well done to everyone who ran this tough race.

Adnams 10k Southwold
Sunday 17 November 2019
Chilly but fine weather was the order of the day for the Adnams 10k in Southwold on Sunday 17 November. We had 15 WAC runners taking part in this two lap race that starts at the Harbour Inn and then continues through the picturesque harbour itself and round the common, finishing with an uphill climb to the Red Lion pub. The race sells out every year usually within half an hour of opening - the free Adnams beer at the end may well be some of the reason for this!
Results-wise it was a fantastic race for Jet Watkinson, who was first female home in a time of 39 minutes exactly. Tony Beales ran his fastest 10k for 18 months in a time of 45.46. There were lots of other great results across the Club. so well done to all. I think everybody that was there will be ready next year for fastest fingers first when entries open.
Snetterton Race Track Half and Full Marathon
Sunday 17 November 2019
This was a lovely race on a beautifully smooth tarmac surface with no hills (unless you count the bridge!). Three laps for the half and six for the full marathon. The weather was also kind being cool, with no breath of a wind and the atmosphere was great. About 10 WACers took part, three doing the full marathon and the rest the half. There were several places where you passed runners going the other way and could give each other a friendly wave and some encouragement. Congratulations go to our three marathon runners, Kyle Brooks, Adam Masterson and Heath Alexander-Bew for winning the Open Men's Team prize!
Houghton Hall Cross Country
Sunday 3 November2019
A brilliant XC race run over a tough heavy 5 mile course in the picturesque grounds of Houghton Hall in what was also the first race in the inaugural Norfolk XC League. We had an excellent turnout with 12 runners competing in the race plus excellent support. Congratulations to our new member Callum Simpson who was 2nd overall and 1st Men’s Senior, congratulations also to Georgia Williams and Sophie McLaren who were 2nd and 3rd Ladies Seniors respectively and congratulations also to Rodney Freeburn who picked up the award 1st M80. We had 4 scoring runners in the Men’s Race with the A team made up of Callum Simpson, Richard White, Andrew Lane and James Birch and in the Ladies race our scoring quartet A Team were Lisa Greengrass, Georgia Williams, Anneke Cook and Sophie McLaren.
